errore 500 dopo modifica .httaccess

salve, ho effettuato aggiornamento di joomla all'ultima versione e fin qui tutto bene.
dopo circa 20 minuti ho modificato il file.httaccess inserendo la riga :
php_value max_input_vars 2000.
restituito errore 500 al momento dell'accesso a joomla, sia front che back-end
poi ho aumentato la versione di php a 5.4 da pannello altervista ma stesso problema.

ultimo tentativo, tramite ftp ho copiato e cancellato dal file .httaccess la riga da me aggiunta e poi ricaricato il file e resettato la versione php a quella consigliata 5.3
tutto ciò aspettando alcuni minuti tra una modifica e l'altra.
alla fine, ho effettuato il reset del file .httaccess con il pulsante dal pannello di altervista. stesso risultato.
conclusione : stessa situazione prima delle modifiche, ora non visualizzo il sito ne da pannello di altervista ne ad accedere a joomla.
che fare?
come posso risolvere?

Si, provato ieri, provato ora. O ci mette più di un minuto e alla fine va oppure va in timeout ed esce errore 500

Ciao, io il sito lo vedo regolarmente online comunque questo è il file htaccess corretto per altervista contiene anche il codice che attiva il php 5.4

Edit: ho visto solo ora che hai postato con 2 account differenti e che in firma hai un blog WP, quindi se il sito corretto è quello settemilacaffè alla riga RewriteBase / devi aggiungere il nome della cartella che contiene joomla RewriteBase /joomla
