Installazione joomla - errore 404

Buongiorno ho installato il mio sito fatto con joomla.
E' ancora allo stato inziale, c'è poca roba.
Il problema è che non veniva visualizzato.
Ho quindi cancellato il file .htaccess e ricopiato uno vecchio che avevo precedentemente salvato.
In questo modo il sito si vede, ma non carica le pagine quando provo a navigare al suo interno.
Mi visualizza l'errore 404.
Probabilmente il vecchio file che ho ricopiato non va più bene.
Questo è il sito in uso
e di seguito il codice del file .htaccess ricopiato:

Si, ci sono.
Ma anche nei link di menu dove ancora non ho inserito pagine, dovrebbe scrivere:
"Non ci sono articoli in questa categoria. Se si visualizzano le sottocategorie, dovrebbero contenere degli articoli."
Il messaggio preimpostato di Joomla quando ancora non sono presenti articoli per un determinato argomento.
Questo dovrebbe funzionare di default, invece porta sempre all'errore 404.

Allora si tratta probabilmente di qualcosa di specifico di Joomla!. Ci sono log consultabili? Altrimenti prova a chiedere nella sezione a esso dedicata.

Mi sembra un po' povero quell' .htaccess. Nella versione di Joomla che si installa dal pannello di AlterVista, è solitamente:

(questo per siti contenuti nella cartella /Joomla. Se la tua cartella è differente o è nella root, devi impostare correttamente la RewriteBase).

Grazie alemoppo per la risposta.
Ho provato a copiare l'.htaccess del sito joomla, ma in questo caso ho la seguente risposta:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, info@altervista.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

La mia cartella si trova nella root.
Come vanno reimpostati i RewriteBase ?

Ho capito come fare.
Ho lasciato solo RewriteBase / nel file .htaccess, essendo la mia installazione fatta direttamente nella root.
Adesso sembra funzionare tutto. Grazie ancora
