500 internal server error

Buongiorno, scusate ma ho bisogno di risolvere un problema di installazione di oscommerce. Ho installato tutto come da istruzioni, modificato i permessi come richiesto ed alla fine quando vado ad entrare nel sito mi compare questo messaggio:

"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, info@altervista.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Volevo sapere se qualcuno ha avuto questo problema e come lo ha risolto.
Magari può sembrare una cosa banale, ma per me che sono un neofita è una grossa perdita di tempo.

Hai un file .htaccess nella tua root o nella cartella nella quale si verifica quell'errore? Se si: posta il codice qui.
