Ti consiglio di fare un foglio di stile per ie e uno per firefox come ho fatto io...
usi il php (http_user_agent) e risolvi il problema..
ti resta da fare una skin per IE...

ti crei due fogli di stile (stile.css e firefox.css) e poi fai un controllo sul browser usato così:
