.htaccess Joomla

CIao a tutti!
Ho un blog fatto con Joomla 1.5 e vorrei usare il mod_rewrite per gli url. Ho visto però che sul server c'è già un file .htaccess ed un altro che si chiama Htaccess.txt
Come devo comportarmi?

Copia il contenuto del tuo file Htaccess.txt (ovvero quello default di joomla) sotto il contenuto del file .htaccess

ho fatto, quando però attivo il mod_rewrite dal pannello di controllo di joomla e provo ad aprire un articolo sul blog mi da questo errore

Intanto ti ringrazio tantissimo per l'aiuto che mi stai dando.
Ho fatto come mi hai detto, utilizzando quel codice. Adesso non vengono errori però l'URL degli articoli è sempre in questa forma:

Gli URL devi gestirli con il SEO di Joomla (Sito > Configurazione > Configurazione SEO) attivando le tre opzioni.

Se le URL generate dal SEO interno di Joomla non ti piacciono puoi utilizzare ArtioSEF, sh404SEF o altro...io consiglio sh404SEF che è molto personalizzabile e potente, inoltre impiega meno tempo per caricare le URL rispetto altri.

Questo componente era gratuito fino qualche anno fa, adesso lo si trova a pagamento (amenochè non trovi un sito che la distribuisca ancora gratuitamente secondo la vecchia versione di licenza d'uso).

Una domandina: come mai alcuni articoli me li da come errore 404 (anche tramite la sitemap negli strumenti webmaster di google) apparentemente senza motivo? tipo per esempio questo:

quando ci accedo dal blog la pagina invece la trova
