about "500 internal Server Error"

I encountered a problem in managing my site:
this is the message i've read on the screen

"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Is has happened after i'eve tried to install imagefield-extended.

I'm not an advanced user of drupal, so I don't know how overcome this problem.
Can you help me someway?

Dovresti cercare i files .htaccess che sono stati inseriti e postarne il contenuto, probabilmente si tratta di un problema di configurazione a quel livello.

perdona un povero profano... questo dovrebbe essere l' .htaccess della versione drupal 6.14 che ho dovuto aggiornare avendo prima la versione 6.13 che non mi permetteva parecchie funzioni.
Ho avuto qualche problema ad aggiornare la versione ma poi funzionava bene fino ad oggi pomeriggio, quando ho voluto caricare il modulo imagefield-extendend (perchè volevo capire come caric<re sul mio sito delle immgini -che non so fare- e poterci poi lavorare almeno alla buona).
..relativamente al paccheto imagefield non trovo un file .htaccess, normale sia così, suppongo o spero?

Ho scaricato imagefield, non contiene alcun htaccess.
Per il problema dell'errore 500 credo proprio dipenda dal Rewritebase.
