Application Instantiation Error post aggiornamento a joomla 3.8

Buongiorno,
a seguito del tentativo (non riuscito) di aggiornamento a joomla 3.8 il sito è divenuto irraggiungibile anche lato admin.
L'errore che visualizzo tentanto di accedere alla home è il seguente:

mentre l'errore che ottengo lato admin é:
