[PHP] Problema Script username & password

Ciao a tutti,
da mesi utilizzo un piccolissimo script inserito in una pagina php che viene eseguita in automatico mediante crontab.
Questa pagina php crea un backup zippato per cui, per semplice precauzione, avevo inserito questo script che consente di inserire nell'url username e password (vedi discussione http://forum.it.altervista.org/i-ser...-htaccess.html).

L'ultimo backup terminato correttamente è datato 15 luglio 2010 ed il cronjob è settimanale. Da allora questo non funziona più e non vorrei dipendesse da qualche upgrade di php...
Potreste darmi una mano please?
Premetto che non ho più toccato da allora lo script e che senza protezione il backup funziona regolarmente.
