In apparenza non dovrebbe comportare un errore, puoi postare l'intero .htaccess?

Abbiamo provato a creare un .htaccess con il contenuto che hai postato e non ha dato errori, probabilmente non deriva da lì l'errore. Puoi pubblicare un link da cui si possa riprodurre il problema?

Sembra caricarsi (almeno in modalità non autenticata), probabilmente ti converrebbe sentire anche loro.
Se poi posti qui eventuali repliche la cosa può essere di interesse anche ad altri.

penso che sia un problema relativo a mod rewrite comunque. Ora provo a chiedere anche a loro.
A naso sembrerebbe più che altro lato applicativo, in ogni caso potresti provare a rifare l'installazione con il file .htaccess corretto e vedere se cambia
