Come nascondere la parte del percorso: index.php

Ciao a tutti!

Come dice il titolo, vorrei sapere com'è possibile nascondere l' "index.php" nel percorso url del mio sito.
Per esempio, se l'url attuale del mio sito è www.zwiluwu.altervista.org/index.php/en/login, io vorrei che esso diventasse www.zwiluwu.altervista.org/login. Ho scoperto che si può fare da un tutorial, dove però il docente usa un altro hosting provider. Ho Joomla nella root e so che tramite il suo pannello si può attivare un'opzione "Riscrivi URL SEF", e lo faccio, ma il sito non si vede più (perché?).
Per risolvere il fatto che il sito/pagina non si vedono più, nel suo video, lui ha un file nella root che si chiama .htaccess (i file che iniziano con un . dovrebbero essere nascosti, giusto? Perché allora in altervista sono comunque visibili? Si possono mettere invisibili?), che elimina, e ha un altro che si chiama "htaccess.txt", che rinomina come ".htaccess". Il problema è che io ho solo il file ".htaccess", che però sembra quello di Joomla (e non quello predefinito?). Tra l'altro, che tipo di informazioni sono presenti all'interno di .htaccess e htaccess.txt? Il nome è suggestivo, e il file sembra importante, ma una spiegazione più chiara non fa male a nessuno!

I file che iniziano con un punto effettivamente dovrebbero essere nascosti ma vengono visualizzati via FTP tramite il filtro "-a" (che probabilmente il tuo client invia in automatico) e dal pannello di controllo per permetterne la modifica.

Tale file (ed il suo contenuto) non sarà mai visibile ad un terzo che tenta di accedere via browser.

Se il file .htaccess che hai ha del codice che è diverso da quello sopra postato e da questo che segue allora si tratterà di direttive di AlterVista riguardo la versione di PHP, la toolbar, o altre impostazioni per il tuo spazio web.

Se hai bisogno di maggiore aiuto posta il tuo file .htaccess

Dimenticavo: se il file .htaccess non contiene il codice corretto di joomla è normale che abilitando il SEF (riscrittura delle URL) il frontend crasha.

Ecco nel mio file .htaccess mancava questa parte:

Non è altro che il tuo codice sprovvisto di commenti e dell'opzione "FollowSymLinks".

ciao scusate se mi intrometto è semplicissimo non devi fare altro che prendere il file htaccess di joomla e fargli 2 modifiche:

1. Options +FollowSymLinks lo commenti con # e diventa #Options +FollowSymLinks
2. # RewriteBase / lo decommenti e diventa RewriteBase / se hai joomla in una sottocartella RewriteBase /nomecartella
